The project was created in response to two basic needs identified at the level of the schools involved:
-to boost students' motivation and their school results
-to promote intercultural dialogue among people from different countries and backgrounds.
We are three schools (coordinating school from Italy, Partner- school 1 from Turkey and Partner - school 2 from Spain), all united by the same drive – to create the formal context for our teachers to develop professionally through European experiences in order to meet the ever-changing needs and expectations of our students. We come from diverse social and economic backgrounds, but it appears that irrespective of that, we had one common intention, that of improving the teaching approaches and by extension the learning of students, making them become more interested in the main school subjects and thus improving their performance and preparing them to access better schools after finishing the current educational level.
We applied for this project out of a desire to share teaching practices and include them in our regular long-term curriculum, thus creating a network of schools that put students' wishes and interests at the center of their teaching.
O1 enable professional development of 100 Ts of languages and science
O2 improve school relevance for children’s needs and increase their level of satisfaction
O3 improve school results of Ss in the target group after project implementation
O4 enable Ts to exchange good practices at European level and apply them in their own schools
O5 improve the schools’ material base with at least 40 sample English/science activities
O6 enable intercultural exchange among Ss/Ts
O7 ensure cooperation at EU level
We planned 3 LTTAs – short-term staff events, as following:
IT organized LTTA1 called Tablets and the use of mobile applications in class. The use of interactive games in teaching languages and in History class
TR organized LTTA2 called "Outdoor activities and the teaching of Geography and Biology"
ES organized LTTA3 called Integrating STEAM project lessons for making evaluation meaningful and fun
LTTAs included a preparatory stage, during which teachers from partner schools meet online in order to establish duties and common requirements for the activities proposed for the exchange and to talk about needed preparations.. Each team worked on two sample activities/lessons/lesson sequences to be presented and applied during the exchange.
During the LTTAs– the host partner organized the agenda, activities, groups of students. Partner school teachers applied their activities with host school students. Students gave feedback to them and in this way we noticed how successful they were.
The post-mobility stage involves the dissemination of activities with other teachers – in the school, in the area etc. and the application of the learned activities with students in each school.
